John Philip Grime

Phil Grime is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Sheffield, UK, where he has developed field and laboratory techniques to use the flora of North Central England as a test-bed for defining functional types (CSR theory) and investigating mechanisms of community and ecosystem assembly and response to climate and land-use changes. Currently he maintains long-term experiments at the Buxton Climate Change Impacts Laboratory in North Derbyshire. Phil is an elected fellow of the Dutch and British Royal Societies and in 2011 was the inaugural recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Award of the International Association for Vegetation Science.
